Re: Mountain bikers?
Carvins cove has the best trails locally imho. Talk to the guys at Just the Right Gear (bike shop on rt.311). Pandapas pond in blacksburg and explore park off the parkway are also nice rides. I'd show you around but I'm currently living in Charlottesville for school.

Re: Mountain bikers?
There is something for everyone at Carvin's Cove. If you stay on the bottom side, it's pretty beginner-friendly. If you head up the mountain, it gets technical and a lot harder. I used to spend a lot of time there. These days I only have road bikes, but I'm thinking about picking up a mountain bike again this summer...

Cool, Ill check out Carvin's Cove next time I'm out. It seems to be recommended by just about everyone I ask. I've been up and down the trail at Green hill park a few times. It's so close to where I work its good for a late afternoon ride weather permitting.

Re: Mountain bikers?
Yes, i'm bumping this thread. I just recently got into mountain biking, and man i've been missing out. But really, i bumped this thread to see if anyone has an older/nonused bike or nice bike components that they'd be willing to get rid of. This is just become a fun hobby for me, so i really don't plan on dishing out very much money on it (still gotta put money towards el coche rojo), kind of a budget build bicycle...i've already got a working bike, i just want better components.

I got some stuff behind the house if you're willing to come look... I have a ready-to-ride bike back there as well... If you're up for it, cough up some cash for some decent tread for my 20" and I'll come out and shut you down... ^_^

You may also want to check Just The Right Gear. Steve usually has plenty of used parts.
