Default Summit Point Track day

PDX/Club Trials event – Oct 31, Nov 01 2009 – Shenandoah Circuit

Shenandoah Circuit, Summit Point, WV – The Washington DC Region of SCCA is proud to announce a combined PDX and Club Trials event on Saturday, October 31, 2009 and Sunday, November 01, 2009. In addition to the driving events, there will be a party on Saturday night with a Halloween theme.

The format for the events will be:
Saturday – PDX (all day)
Sunday – Combined PDX/Club Trials – Club Trials will have
practice sessions throughout the day with Timed Sessions in the afternoon

Pricing for the event is:
PDX only Saturday - $225
PDX only Sunday - $175
PDX only Sat and Sun - $350

Club Trial only Sunday - $100
Sunday PDX & Club Trial - $225
Sat & Sun PDX & Club Trial - $400

What is PDX and Club Trials?

From the SCCA Web site:
PDX provides an instructional environment for drivers who simply want to improve their driving skills and increase their enjoyment of driving their street vehicle. True to the “run what ya brung” adage, all it takes to be a part is your street car, a valid license and a helmet.

You Will Be A Better Driver

PDX events are about you, the driver. Plenty of seat time, plenty of individual instruction and a ton of driving exercises make up a PDX; all of which is designed to educate you and make you more confident behind the wheel, both on the track and on the street.

A wide range of topics are discussed and shown at a PDX, including: following a “racing line”, passing zones, speed limits and other general driving techniques. Of course, each driver receives feedback from his or her instructor at the end of each lesson.

PDX events are non-competition based. Why? Because the focus is on you. Three other levels of the Time Trials program provide competition, but it’s important that the skills taught at a PDX are learned beforehand so you as a driver can enjoy the latter levels of the program the way they were intended.

Next Stop: Club Trials

Now that you’ve received some instruction and feel you’re ready for something a bit challenging, Club Trials is where you want to be.

Club Trials continue the instruction you received in the PDX, but adds advanced driving techniques, competition rules and introduces the elements of a timed event. Your street car is still perfectly acceptable, but you might start to see a few race-prepared vehicles too!

With Club Trials, you now get to feel what it’s like to be on the track and go against the clock no matter what you’re running that weekend.

Default Re: Summit Point Track day

I received an email from the club office with an update on the weekend, thought I would share

Are you coming to the Halloween PDX/CT weekend at Summit Point Shenandoah Circuit? Don't be scared, click here to register now to drive, instruct or work, and join us after the PDX on Saturday October 31st for a Halloween themed get together including a grilled dinner, fiendish games and devilish contests for haunted prizes including 2 free 2010 PDX entries and 1 free 2010 CT entry!

Dinner will be dug up just after the last car off the track. Food typical of a graveyard grill, dogs and burgers with all the fixin’s. Side's, dessert's and drinks will be provided as well.

The fun will start with a car decorating contest! After you finish on track let the good times roll! If people can dress their pets for halloween we should be able to dress our cars. You may decorate your car anyway you like, you can disguise it as a pumpkin, dress it in a hula skirt and coconuts, turn it into a bunny rabbit whatever you like.

Create the best car costume and win an entry into a 2010 PDX event! Judging will be based on creativity, and over all effect. Open to all PDX/CT participants and workers in 2009.

Meanwhile, on the Deserted Staging Lane, those who dare to register for the ultimate child’s ride-on grudge race. The 2009 Big Wheel vs Green Machine Challenge! A bracket style elimination drag race pitting your choice of ghostly ride-on, Big Wheel or Green Machine against your competitor. Helmets required, flagged start, 50 ft. race, 16 entrants maximum, sign up available inside the registration room. Must be a participant, instructor or worker in the PDX/CT weekend to enter.

May the best ghoul win.... a 2010 CT entry for being the top eliminator the Big Wheel vs. Green Machine Challenge!

If car decorating or ride-on racing has you scared stiff, feel free to go bobbing for PDX's. A good old fashioned tub of water filled with apples.... with one very special one. It may be bitter sweet, but that green apple will get you a free 2010 PDX entry!

And if that’s not enough to scare up a good time, a prickly game of Pin the Black Flag on Matt! That’s right, a somewhat life size pin board of Matt Yip our Zombie Leader will be posted and when its your turn we put the “blindfold” on you, then take your best stab at hitting Matt with the black flag! Flag Matt correctly and win a vintage PDX T-Shirt, or some other prize TBD. While supplies last!

If you make it through the night, join us for the PDX/CT on November 1. At stake is the 2009 WDCR Shenandoah Circut Club Trial Record, and a framed commemorative trophy for the record setter to be awarded at the event! The current record is held by Fred Kelly with a time of 1:39.773 in his FFR Cobra at the Club Trial held on April 4th 2009.

Get more information and register in the Time Trials/PDX section of www.wdcr-scca.org.
