SCCA Evolution School.....Definitely Recommended

This weekend I just completed Phase I & II of the SCCA Evolution Auto-X School. It was a great time (even in the rain on Sunday) and I learned a lot.

Although I probably had more auto-x experience than most at the school, I was still amazed at how much I learned. Not only was the instruction very good, but I got a lot of seat time as well which is also very important.

These schools are not cheap, but if you are trying to become a better auto-x'er and it comes down to buying new parts that you "think" will make you faster or attending a school such as this, your money would be better spent at the school.

This was a great school and I definately recommend it if you can do it.

I'm going to have to back up James statement full force. You learn more in those two days then you would just autocrossing.

Another point that I wanted to add is this: While this is marketed out as an autocross school, 90% of what they teach will help in any type of competitive driving, be it AutoCross, TrackEvents, etc.

Skills learned at an autox type event/school are very very different than skills used at a road course. Im sure it was a blast but I was just saying. I think that seat time and someone who, knows what they are talking about, riding along to instruct you is always something benificial. Glad it was fun.

Actually, not as much as you would think. I have done both types of schools. Although the Evolution School is very different from the small SCCA schools we have locally every few months.

Phase I was $200 and Phase II was $150 (since I did Phase I also). The school is far from cheap, but it is on par with most driving schools as far as price is concerned. A weekend at VIR is very similar in price for example.
