Registration is now open for both portions of the autocross at VMP on Sunday May 9 2010 with NASA Mid-Atlantic.

The day is now effectively considered a 4-heat autocross for a maximum of 20 entries per heat, starting one hour earlier than usual across the board (reg/tech at 9am not 10am, first kart off at 11am not noon.)

Heats 1 and 3 will be for karts, heats 2 and 4 will be for cars, with alternating work/run assignments accordingly.

Karts are being provided by http://www.summitpointkart.com , they are 14hp Sodi RX7 units capable of 50-60mph and they are a blast to drive. The cost to rent a kart is $10 on top of the normal autocross entry fee (add another $10 either way for day-of signups, if there are any spots left.)

Participants are welcome to sign up for either portion or both portions. Yes indeed, you can run a rental kart in one heat and your car in one of the other heats, and appear on the results twice, and maybe win stuff too.

Any q's, please don't hesitate to ask. This event is the first of its kind, we are always looking to make NASA-MA autoX events more fun and this is something we have wanted to put together for several years now. Please join us for a day of fast fun with cones, cars, and now karts too!

This is really exciting! Have you guys considered a circuitcross at Summit Point. The Jefferson Circuit or the shenandoah Circuit might be good for that...

This si sa great plan to have renatl karts involved. My calendar is marked for the May 9th! If it rains are the karts put on the shelf because of the weather?

Nope, we will run the karts rain or shine just like we autox in cars rain or shine. We only stop for lightning, storms, very high winds, etc.

Anyway as far as I know the SPK crew will bring rain tires for May 9 @ VMP and change over if necessary.

Unfortunately not this time. We'll see how it goes, if this works out we may allow people to bring their own karts to later events.
