wiring an autometer tach for a 6 cylinder

wiring an autometer tach for a 6 cylinder
hey i know how to hook up the tach and the green,black,red, and white wires. but what i dont know is which wire do i cut on the back of te tach so itll read for a 6 cylinder? theres the brown loop wire and the orange loop wire. which do i cut for a 6 cylinder or does it even matter?

yea i know about the switch. but mine has the wires you have to cut and im not sure which to cut for a 6 cyl. cuz im going to put a skyline motor in my 240sx soon and its set for a 8 cyl. now.

This tachometer is factory calibrated to operate on 8 cylinder
engines. For 4 or 6 cylinder engines, it is necessary for you to make
proper adjustments.
8 Cylinder: No adjustment necessary.
6 Cylinder: Clip BROWN wire loop only. Isolate with electrical tape.
4 Cylinder: Clip BROWN and ORANGE wire loops. Insulate with
electrical tape

i looked on google and couldnt find anything. just stuff about a switch. idk maybe i wasnt looking for the right thing. lol
