Default for the vw crowd

got a few questions...i know i could probably google this but id rather take advice from locaL people that may have done it

just picked up a 96 passat vr6/5 speed car

and a 95 golf 2dr 5 speed

how hard is the swap into the golf and is it actually worth my time ?

what parts are needed or does the passat nearly have everything?

and what would the value of the golf be after its swapped?
the golf would be repainted black and stock suspension/wheels..

also would any of the suspension work off the passat as an upgrade to the golfs suspension??

sorry for all the questions...i just dont build vws? just trying to get some insight

My opinion is a little biased but I don't know if that's really worth the trouble, if you've never done it before. What kind of shape is the Passat in?

vr swap is easy as cake. both are ce2 cars so the engine harness will mesh with the fuse block in the golf. more of a pain to go hydro clutch ( swapping hydros and pedal cluster) there are sourced parts from europe to do a cable setup ( cheap and gets the job done but can be troublesome in getting parts and them actually lasting ). VWs are crap for resale value, check vortex for 4dr vr golfs. unless you go all out but its still not going to net you a good profit. im not too sure on the swapping of suspension but if it was my bet i would say they are compatible since most everything is ( rear might be different ). all in all, vr's have a very sexy note to them and there is nothing better than driving a shitty ass 4dr golf that sounds so good. sorry about the lack of caps and whatever else. i have done may of these swaps btw.

:edit: just noticed/read you said "2dr" but i still stand by what was said.

the body is fine...just has peeling paint on the hood/roof/trunk

i was going to resell but it doesnt hold much of a value...like 1600 or something...

the interior needs a good cleaning...

i figured swapping into the golf may be more valuable...

i may just part/sell them as they are...

How many miles on the VR? How's the body on the golf? Rust?

EDIT: Like Scr8dubbin said, though, don't expect to get much return for your hard work.

If you are doing it to flip the car than I would just part them out. If you want to have some fun on a budget, do it. I have an 86 with an OBD2 12v VR swap and it's an absolute blast.
