code was pulled up a whil back and came up as oxygen sensor. dont know if that would stop it from working.

pretty sure you have a code 21 or 22 vtec solenoid or pressure switch. but first things first check the damn oil level. if all is good pull the codes from the ecm once you have confirmed no vtec activation. pm me if needed

Most CELs will prevent VTEC from engaging. You really shouldn't be going into the load/RPM range of VTEC engagement anyway if you have an active CEL, especially if you don't know what is causing it.

Check the oil pressure first then I would suggest taking the vtec solenoid off and clean the screen. If that's clogged it would cause your car to not engage vtec.

fabrik8 is rite, vtec wont engauge if the check lite is on in most cases. even o2 sensor will stop it, check the code (hondas are easy) and see what is wrong and fix it. is it obd1 or 2? what car and motor are you using?
