Default Vtec problems

Ok so i have a ls vtec and put a new type R throttle body on it. I had a code for Tps sensor which was causing my vtec to not engage. I change the tps sensor and re-done all the wiring for it to the ecu. Code is now gone and vtec is still not working or should i say it works when it wants to. So with that being said i changed the oil since its based off oil pressure, new tps, no codes. Its the weirdest thing i seen, like i said some days vtec works for alittle then i shut the car off and when i start it back up it idels funny but that could because the new throttle body, but vtec doesnt work. Im stummped i tried everything anyone with advice or something similar please leave feedback Thanks

If you aren't throwing any codes, then reasonably, I'd assume you weren't getting enough oil pressure.

If you have proper oil levels, then I'd suggest taking apart the solenoid and pressure switch, cleaning it all thoroughly, then trying again.

When you put the head on the car did you make sure the O-ring and dowel pin was on the #3 cam cap? also like another person said above make sure the pressure switch and all is clean and the screen that's on the gasket on the solenoid..

this has screwed with me before, I do not know if it's relavant on ls vtec, I would still assume so. Also, since your say it works at times and not at other times, then I would suggest whats above, take it apart and clean it. I've seen this happen multiple times, the screen gets plugged up with metal and such and doesn't all oil to the right places. What ecu are you running and is it tuned?
