vtec not engaging

Default vtec not engaging

i have a 97 ex with a obd1 gsr in it and vtec dosent engage and im throwing no codes at all any ideas

check the small things first, make sure you have enough oil in the motor, if so take the vtec solenoid off check to make sure the screens aren't clogged, then check connections to the ecu.


what kind of ecu are you running?

does your speedo work?

make sure you top off the vtec fluid also

^ ^ What he said. Also sometimes vtec will kick in but it won't be as hard as other cars. You can test the solenoid to make sure its working as well

ok no my speedo is not working but im not throwing a code and it work when it was in my teg and now it dosent work and im running a p72 with the jumper harness and it is chipped and tunned on chrome all cooncections are good has oil ill check the screens clean them and then try
pretty sure vtec is suppose to engage at 4500 and my car wont go past five grand

put a test light on your vtec solenoid and drive. See if it lights up while driving in VTEC.
