Ok so my car shit on me the other day...94 integra. B18b1 motor. Put on new starter, battery, and then found it had no spark. So i put on a new distributor and still nothing. Come to find out it blew a fuse. When i put the new fuse in it started right up. About 4 hours later i drove again, and when i got back in my car maybe 20 mins after that it did not start. Blew a fuse AGAIN!! The old distributor WAS vtec and the new one is non vtec. Could it be i have a vtec ecu? And therefore need a vtec distributor? Im not sure....

Read the sticker on the side of the ECU. It should have a 3 digit code somewhere on it that will say something like P74 or P72. But, the wrong type of distributor won't cause it to blow a fuse, because the distributors are all pretty much identical internally. So I think you have a problem somewhere else (not the ECU).

I dont think it has anything to do with the dizzy. Sounds like a wiring problem.

sounds like walts car..except yours prob has more power..fo real though check the vtec solenoid

seriously though...something on that circuit is shorted out get out the short light and start pulling connectors on that circuit.. First though a really good visual inspection of all suspected wiring

Why would you be a running a vtec ecu/dizzy in the first place ? check if you have the correct fuse, Something keeps blowing your fuse, thats for sure.

Exactly, the only difference in the distributors are the legs, they are closer together on a vtec engine because the vtec solenoid gets in the way. Although they are interchangeable, you need to modify it to make it bolt up properly.

It's a non-vtec engine, therefore there is no solenoid.

OP, which fuse is it blowing? Interior or Exterior?

this is my old car it is the ecu fuse under the hood and he has a 15amp fuse in it the ecu is a p75 and its an obd1 engine it was fine before he changed the batt, dizzy, i have no clue what it could be.

Well, it seems as if it's just a short somewhere. It could be in quite a few places though. That's the thing about an intermittent issue, they can be one hell of a headache to figure out. Troubleshooting them is not easy, and quite time consuming.

I thought for sure Fabrik8 would have had the issue solved in one post...if he's lost, I'm definitely lost. lol.
