Default Tuning with an APEX AFC

With the closest AWD dyno 4 hours away in Maryland...i was thinking about doing street tuning with an AFC. I will have a VF22 turbo, STI injectors, & fuel pump...if tuned correctly, would it even be close to a dyno tuned car? I need help on this subject b/c i dont know crap bout tuning. All replies welcome

Now I tried having a discussion with some wrx guys about this.
My intial impression is that most of them were just gobbling up what people were saying on i-club and not listening to any other points of view.
I for one like tuning with an safc. Sure it's a rudimentary method and does not have the flexibility of some other methods but it's also cheap.
You definitely need some kind of datalogger or at the very least an egt gauge.
I'm no wrx expert though, so don't take my word for it. Maybe some of the wrx tuners can shed some light on a key aspect of why an safc does not cut it.
Note: I remember one guy on one of the wrx sites tuning with an safc and getting good results.

thanx...just wondering...what do all the GSX owners do? AFC also? I talked to one guy and i think he said that with turbo cars...i really need control over ignition timing or something of the sort...whatever only a piggyback ECU and a dyno can do?

hookup a volt meter to the O2. Find out what numbers you should be shooting for. tune

of course its not as accurate as a wideband, but it works.

you can use your stock o2. It will not be as accurate, but it will be alright unless you are trying to tune to the ragged edge. yes have someone with you to watch the readings, and tune appropriatly

I advise against tuning soley off o2s unless you have a wideband.
Dsm guys usually do safc/datalogger/egts to tune with unless they step it up to dsmlink/aem/haltech etc.

the safc indirectly affects ignition timing by modifying the airflow signal to the ecu.

well this is how it goes...my friend has a friend who tuned his car...which i might add is twin turbo AWD...and we all know what that is. But anyways...the guy tuned it and he knew what he was doing...so i think ima ask him. My main question now is, how big is the difference between cars tuned on the dyno, and cars tuned with an AFC on the street? I know the Dyno is the best...but with money being an issue, i will not spend every last penny to squeeze out 1 horsepower...know what i mean?
