Re: trying to install a tach
get a helms manual , and go to the wiring schematics section and have fun tracing . i highly doubt anyone on this forum has ever wanted to install a tach in a town-car so i don't see you getting much more help .

Re: trying to install a tach
iam guessing big ricer tach as he said the car didnt come with one and hes looking for the signal wire . if it was a factory one the signal wire is 90% of the time already in the cluster harness and he could just plug a factory equipped tach cluster in and everything would just plug and play.

Re: trying to install a tach
yea your right
when i bought my car it had a ricer tach
it should have three wires coming out of the tach
ones ground
ones your power if you have a shift light and the other ones something else. your sensor or someting
power wire you should splice it in to your dimmer light. ground it to the frame
the other wire goes to your engine where all the little wires go on the head. someone please name this for me..
