Default timing belt kit

anyone ever heard of GATES? I was thinking about either getting a timing belt kit from them or AC Delco. just wondering if anyone's had any experience with them.

You dont need a kit, you only need the belt (for a honda). if you are going to replace your timing belt, ONLY BUY ONE FROM THE DEALER. Pay the extra few bucks for a dealer part. That is one of the few parts you DO NOT want to get a cheap ass aftermarket part for.

(What kind of car is the belt for?)

the pulleys are only a few bucks each, i'd see about getting those seperately from auto-zone or whatever, i'd still get the belt as a dealer part though.

Amen, completely rebuilt a motor for a GSX, put an aftermarket timing belt on, snapped within 2k miles of the fresh rebuild. Was cruising at 60 mph on the james river bridge and it just snapped. Bent every single valve.

A Timing belt kit would be best. The tensioner's and all, People say you don't need to replace them, but there like anyother pulley's. The bearings get worn out and will seize up and shred the hell out of your belt and fuck up your engine. AC Delco is decent, I've delt with GATES before but do not recommend them. Stick with the dealer as stated previously in this thread. They spend million's of dollar's and researchin parts for the particular vehicle, so why not go with them? Hell, that little belt can fuck your motor up. Replace your water pump as well. JUST to be safe.

Gates manufacturers some of timing belts for newer Hondas, O.E. equipment.
