Default Tiburon engine swap

I have a 98 tiburon. 5spd. I want to swap the engine and boost it, but don't know what engine I can swap it with. Anybody have any advice?

2jz? no shit!

real answer: it all depends on your budget. another engine that came stock in that car will be cheapest/easiest. as your budget goes up, your options go up. but since you're asking this question, and talking about a first generation tiburon, my guess is your budget is non-existent.

sell car and buy a better platform to start on if you dont have a lot of cash.. If you do have a lot of cash, but a better platform.

Yes. Starting with a bad platform because its what you already have is a flawed decision. You may think that you can't afford a new car, but you'll change your mind when you realize that there is very little aftermarket support for that car so you'll end up spending a lot of money to get the basic parts that you need. Then you'll have a hard time selling it because its a Tiburon that's been modified and is now even less reliable and higher maintenance. People don't really consider buying a Tiburon unless they want something cheap in the firstt place, so you'll never get any of your modification money back out of it when you sell it.

And its already 14 years old, which doesn't help resale very much. Your target audience is high school girls just getting their license. People still want to buy 14 year old Hondas, you don't have that luxury as much.

Honda shell with no title and a pitbull puppy, just in case you have to make trades in the FS section.
