Default Stupid VTEC Sillynoid question...

As some or most of you know, VTEC is being a Panzy in my car. It refuses to engage! All the wiring Seems as if it's correct but it looks like some shady wiring, The VTEC solenoid is Clean, I am full of oil, Not throwing any codes and Now I can't rev past 7100 RPMS and YES I am on the PR3 Obd-0 Ecu. It's in a 1989 Crx HF with a B16a OBD-0 Swap. Some one Had mentioned to me that a Y8 VTEC solenoid would work on the B16. However They do look the same to me. Also the only problem that I can say is wrong with my car is The Guage cluster doesn't really work, Except for the Speedometer, turn signals and Light for night driving. Any suggestions and How about that VTEC solenoid question?

Thanks In Advance-

Mike

Have you checked your vtec pressure switch?

Check all the wiring, don't waste a minute of your time chasing gremlins unless you're very sure that the wiring is in the right state. You can replace parts all day long and if your swap wiring is junk you'll never solve your problem. You really need to check with a multimeter (grab a friend) and see if your vtec output from the ECU is actually active.

my vtec didnt work in my crx, my temperature guage in my cluster wasnt registering at normal

when i fixed the probelm with the temp guage in the cluster, vtec was workign properly..

check that, and if thats the problem, then maybe you have a coolant temp sensor unplugged, or a wire is un-insulated, and grounded out...

many many things are possible

I know it sucks I basically have a ZC not a B16 I might as well tape over VTEC on the valve cover

My coolant temp sensor is plugged in and insulated..ummm Im Def Hoping that the Guage cluster is the problem

I would suggest checking all of your wiring also. But there is a good chance that it is because of your temp gauge.
