Default Stud replacement.

93 honda del sol front wheel.

i was taking off a lug nut and some how the stud came loose. i dont know how that happened but its turning freely. I had to take the lugnut off with an air chisel. my question is how would i replace that stud the easy way. i am running on 3 lug nuts right now, is that safe at all? thank you.

No the hub will have to come off,the whole head of the stud will not go in clean and straight unless:

Option 1: you grind a corner off the head of the stud
Option 2: you remove the hub

trust me i had to do it on my car already, and just broke another one a couple of days ago.

correct, unless you do this to the head of the stud (the part that rests inside the hub)

Its not the best of safest thing to do but if you have no other choice its all you can do.

madsteez is right on this one... you can only do it 1 of 2 ways... either grind a flat spot in the head of the stud or take apart the hub... there is no enough clearance to fit the stud passed the hub and into the hole unless you do one of these 2 things

notching the stud will work fine in fact come come that way also before you pull it in with the impact stack like 4 or 5 washers between the hub face and the lug nut this will make sure that you dont overtighten and break this one too but if your stud free turned than you might have to get one with an over sized collar that presses into your hub depending on how bad the hub is egged out

you dont have to press anything.

they make a Hub Tamer kit for this.

get a slide hammer, and pull the hub out. replace the stud, use the hubtamer set, and a air gun to put the hub back in.

its not hard, but if you dont have the tools it is.
