Default stripped intake manifold nut

i stripped one of the nuts on the bottom side of the intake manifold. the one right under the number 3 runner. b18b manifold. its hard to get a socket to fit firm on the nut and i had an extension and swivel attached and it kept slipping off and rounded the nut. does anyone have suggestions and do you think a bolt extractor (external) will fit around the nut and clear the manifold???

You have a couple options here.

You can always use a smaller socket than the bolt, mash it on with force and easily try to break it loose.

You can try cutting a slot on the head of the bolt and using a flathead attachment. (If you have enough space that is)

I'm only listing these because I'm pretty sure the intake manifold bolts are torqued no more than 30 pounds and I may be way over on that guess. It shouldn't take much to free it, but I would go with the first one I mentioned its much easier than the second one.

OR, you can buy a "gator grip" socket tool, and never worry about a stripped bolt again!!!

if there is room, put another nut on the stud, tighten it up, use the original nut and back out the entire stud and replace it.
