Stereo nightmare... Nissan guys.
CAR: 1990 240sx
Ok first off. I have hooked up MANY stereos before and never had a problem like this one.
Before you read note that, all fuses are good. And everything worked before I removed the old stereo.
I removed my old stereo from my car (crappy aftermarket walmart unit) my buddy went and snipped ALL the wires from the harness while i was working on running wiring for the amp and sub. he said he knew what he was doing
Well when he did that. The clock wont hold time. The dome light won't come on unless the key is turned to acc. and the automatic seatbelts wont work either unless the key is turned foward. Not to mention the stereo wont hold any presets.
My first thought was that I didn't have the constant wire right. after messing with it for about 20 minutes trying to find the constant I gave up and looked online for wiring schematics. I found 3 different schematics. And none seem to work. There are like 5 red wires and 4 blue wires. I am completely lost.
Someone please help!

Did you check your fuses, I think the interior lighting fuse or audio fuse is the source of all those problems.

his friend did like an idiot.
If you get a 9v battery you can hook them to the speaker wires and make the speakers make noises to find out what are your speaker wires. Then find a 12v constant and switch power and you are good to go.

Re: Stereo nightmare... Nissan guys.
I figured it out. I got a test light and there were no hot wires with the ignition off. But 3 hot wires with it on. So I checked the fuse box one last time. And sure enough. There was a blown fuse. Can't remember what it was for just that it wasnt the fuse for the Seatbelts, radio, dome light, or the clock.... I can't believe that we didn't see that earlier. 3 of us. here's your sign.
