starter acting up, please help

i dont know, but if it was electrical, why did it start only after dumping clutch going down hill (overriding starter) , electrical hasnt got anything to do with starter. and it doesnt make sense this only happened once.

bang on it with a hammer when it wont start. if it starts after doing it then you will be 100% sure. but im willing to bet its the starter anyways. its easy to get to so replacing it isnt a big job

Sounds like either a dead spot in the starter or a loose connection.

loose connection,bad nuetral safety switch,flat spot, next time it does dat, take a test light an unplug the solenoid wire turn the key an see which 1 of the 2 wires is not getting power.I see so many folks at my job wasting money on starters they dont need.
