Default Speedo problem.

well the speedometer has been struggling and works every now and again but lately (say past month or so) it hasn't worked at all.

i'm curious if anyone has any idea what it could be. it seems to only work during temperate weather but not in the extremes (i.e. in the spring/fall it works well but not in the summer/winter)

anyone have any ideas? sensor or maybe wiring?

ps: only reason i'm fixing now is because i got a ticket for it last night so i guess it's time to fix this badboy so i know how fast i'm going.

pps: cruise control nor odometer work since i suppose it's all linked to the speed sensor?

how bout you have it diag'd correctly instead of throwing parts at it?

a dvom will let you know pretty quick if its bad or not. a scope would help a hell of a lot better though.

yeah ok. well i'm gonna check things one at a time. places just don't do diagnostics anymore and the one my dad has is for obd2

and right now i'm at home in chesapeake and you're in southwest VA. so that leaves me at a disadvantage.

huh? diagnostics is part of repairing a vehicle, unless you go to one of them tune and lube places that only know how to change parts out.

wait...i see what you are saying now. people rather swap parts till they fix it instead of figure out the cause.

year, engine, trans and i will try to get you a wiring diagram so you can run it down. or give me a location and i will try to find an ASA or IATN shop near you that i would send someone to.

there is a way to troubleshoot a vss, it's in his hanes manual. No need to pay somone else to do it for you.
