minus 5 miles per hour off your speed when you're driving.

example: speed limit is 65, accelerate until your speedo reads 70. then you're doing the posted speed limit.

hope this halps.

This shit got me... LAWLS....

OP, get the phone book (OR GOOGLE IT!!!!), pull up "Automotive Speedometer Recalibration", take it into a shop, and pay the damn money it costs to replace the speedo gear which is most likely the culprit. Changing tire size or ride height will throw off the calibration in your speedo, and the PROPER way to fix it is to regear it. Or you could just buy a GPS and an external antenna (for poor/overcast conditions) and set the display to show MPH all the time, which loses your pretty map feature until you have to make a turn, but remember this is delayed due to distance from the satellites, so it isnt exactly precise either. It will still give you your exact speed, itll just take longer to refresh than a speedo will.

That's great and all, but most speedos don't actually have gears. That only works for mechanically driven speedos, not speedos with an electrical input.. There are sometimes other ways to calibrate electronic speedos, but changing gears isn't one of them.
