ok so when i bought my swap and put it in the speed sensor in the tranny was bad. i heard from someone that a s13 single cam on will work with my engine(s13 sr20det blacktop).we tried one(not 100% it was a sohc) and it was reading waaaay off (like 20 when i was goin 5-10). but i was also told that i need and s14 sensor.can someone please help me out for sure on which one i need so i can go ahead and get the right one. thanks

if i remember correctly it all depends on your ecu if you have an S13 SR ecu you need an S13 VSS . 13 and 14 sensor are interchangeble with any trans so if it still reads off its a matter of borrowing someone sensor(oddesey ) and seeing what happens lol

i have the same problem; s13 trans in s14 chassis reading way beyond actual mph and rpm's

s14 vss only works with a s14 chassis b/c of the guages...and vise versa

If you drive an S14 you use an S14 KA or SR speed sensor. If you drive an S13 you use an S13 KA, CA or SR speed sensor.

sr tranny = ka tranny, it all has to do with your ecu dude, I told you this.

ok well if had to run an s13 for my s13 sr then it wouldnt me 15+ mph off

hmmm...18s yo? larger wheel diamiter? Im grasping at straws here..because I just used an s14 SS in my black car, and it worked...but i was useing a obdII 180sx ecu...

The speed sensor has nothing to do with the ECU. It has everything to do with what gauge cluster you are using. The circuit goes from the tranny, to the cluster, then to the ECU last. The ECU has no effect on the signal from the VSS.

Correct me if im wrong but more specifcally you need vss from an auto s14 Ka.
