I have incredable amouts of play in the shifter....i was told it was the linkage...someone who knows there shit let me know....

What type of play is it?? Do you put it in gear and can still move the shifter like you are in neutral? If so I would try replacing the bushings on the linkage

thats exactly what it does....its not a little in 1st i can move it to where 5th is....

Yea, replace the shifter bushing.

that happened to me, but it was just the linkage, not a bushing. I have a VW though, so.. it's a little different.
