Default serious sputtering

I have a 91 civic 4 door that I just swapped a b20 into. The car has been converted to obd1 with the rywire harness. It will idle but really low and sometimes cuts off. If I try to drive it it kicks really hard like if I were hitting the gas and letting off really fast repeatedly. If i hold it to the floor it will bog down but start climbing rpm slowly till about 4 or 5 and opens up. sitting still in neutral or clutch pushed in it wraps out just fine. The only code thrown is The o2 sensor. Any suggestions?

I suggest you fix the O2 sensor.

Exactly, it's usually the vacuum advance, but only if the counterweights aren't adjusted. You don't really need an O2 sensor anyway, it doesn't really do anything important. I could never figure out what all that electrical stuff actually does.

Yeah, my GSR is doing the same thing, I adjusted the distributor and now below 3k RPM's if I press the pedal a little to much it feels like it hesitates/sputter til above 3k then it's good. I gotta play with the distributor a little more.

Seriously though, fix the O2 sensor and then see where you stand after that.

Set it back to factory settings. The ECU can't properly adjust the timing over a large enough range if you already gave it a head start by moving the distributor away from stock position.

I had a buddy of mine tell me the o2 could be the problem to but wasn't positive. He's built many and knows what he's talking about so I'm going to do that when I get home. As for moving the distributor I've done that and even tried the timing light but couldn't get it to idle high enough

So you're still getting an O2 sensor CEL?
