Default Is it safe to remove my exhaust heat shields??

00 integra gsr
i got the skunk2 megapower exhaust installed a while ago and ever since i started hearing a rattling sound coming from the rear, only at low rpms. never knew what it was i dealt with it for about 5 months until i finally decided to find out where its coming from. so i googled it, and found out the alot of other honda/acura owners get the same problem once they install a aftermarket exhaust. I was wondering if it is safe to remove the heat shield?? Im afraid of something happening to the gas tank because the exhaust does get really really hot and the gas tank is right next to it. Anyone else get this same problem once giong aftermarket? any advice? i know i can live with it but ive been hearing this annoying sound for tooo long now.

go to big al's and get a bracket welded from your ehaust pipe to the frame of the car. there you go no more rattle thats what i did when mine did that, i've had the exhaust for over a year and haven't had a problem yet.

good call sir.

as for the gas getting hot and creating a splosion like the movies, not gonna happen bro.

you can trim/bend/remove them as necessary.
