Default s14 tach speedo doesn't work

ok so i been out of 240's for about 4 years now.

But Im about to pick up another 95 zenki, guy says tach and speedo doesn't work. He says it needs a lower harness.

Is this true and will it fix it. And around about how much to fix if it is the lower harness.

Thanks

How could we tell? We haven't seen the car or talked to the guy.

The lower harness is for the transmission sensors and some other stuff, so that could be plausible. What engine is it?

Google says you can get a brand new S13 KA harness for $125, which should be roughly similar. A used OEM harness is cheaper obviously. http://www.wiringspecialties.com/s13katrha.html

If the cost of a sub harness is the make-or-break part of the deal, you should probably not buy the car. You're buying a 1995 240SX, so I'm sure you're you're prepared to work on a car that has been flogged for the better part of 20 years.
