hey i got my car wired up with an s14 sr20det wc ecu however the ecu is not turning required sensors and relays to fire the car up, all is wired up well, so i was told that ecu is bad, I am in search to find someone particular local with a running s14 sr20det with wc ecu to test to see if the ecu is bad to justify this matter. thanks

Easy way to test if your S14 SR ECU is bad:

1) If you have a consult adapter, are you able to connect to your ECU via consult? If you don't know what I'm talking about, just skip to step 2.
a) If you can connect, ECU is good. Look elsewhere.
b) If you cannot connect, do you have a daugherboard installed on the ECU? If no, the ECU is probably bad.

2) When you turn the key to the on position, how long does your fuel pump prime for?
a) less than 2 seconds
I) see "b" above.
b) 3-5 seconds. ECU is good.

Grab a multimeter, check to see if the ECU has power and if the grounds have continuity to the chassis. You can't assume the ECU is bad if you haven't checked that it can actually turn on.


I can plug a lamp into the wall and say that the light bulb is bad but I could be completely wrong if I haven't checked to see if the outlet is live.

the fuel pump does not come on rather, when i used jumper wire it did. thanks

add 12 volt power to the red and black wire. or at least test it. thats your power right there

well, the thick red black, not thin. in the bay where the main function plugs are

not enough grounds or you have bad ones. my ecu on my redtop did the same thing for awhile some sensors would work others wouldnt, until i re-ran all my grounds and also check the grounds for your ecu.

Maybe it is because you used a S13 ECU, but when I installed my S14 ECU I don't remember switching around very many (if any) ground pins.

So assuming the car worked before he swapped motors the grounds should be fine.
