Default rough idle due to to much voltage?

98 acura integra
lsvtec turbo

my car has a rough idle at start up, 2k rpm to be exact. only solution i have found is to turn on everything that uses power ie headlights, ac, defrost, radio.

after all the electronics are turned on. my idle goes down to normal, 1k rpm and it stays there. weird.

im thinking i need a better grounding system. on start up, the car is pulling to much voltage and turning on everything reduces the amount of voltage it is pulling.

any suggestions or idea?

What you're saying is a really strange assumption. It doesn't make sense, and that's not how electricity works.

So let's think about what's actually happening here. It's idling high, so you turn on a bunch of electrical loads and make the alternator present a greater load on the engine. Then the idle goes down because of the extra load.

SO what you're really asking is "why does my car idle high with no load, but idle normally while loaded?"....
I'm assuming it also does the same behavior when you turn the air conditioning on? Actually, a turbo Integra probably doesn't have aircon any more I'll bet, so that probably doesn't help diagnosis.

You also need to add the normal bits of necessary information:
  • Is the car tuned
  • Did it just start doing this
  • Did you just change something about the engine
  • Does it do it while engine is cold, hot, both?
