Default Removing the crank pulley, NEED HELP!!

I have a 92 gsr that the timing jumped i never have messed with timing but i am going to on this motor. i heard that you can take the crank pulley off if you got somebody in the car holding the brakes and you have the car in gear that you can brake the crank pulley loose is that true. I dont have the tool or the air pressure to take the crank pulley off I did have the compressor but sold it a while ago. So my question is can i get the crank pulley off with a breaker bar and a pipe on the end of it if somebody in the car holding the brakes and have it in gear.

I used a socket wrench to get mine off my car, by myself, but I'm not sure with the Honda engines.

I had to use a oil filter wrench to hold mine (chain style) because even with someone on the brakes it would still turn. Hope that helps you out just make sure you wrap it with a towel so you dont scar it up.

See if you can find somebody with a good compressor and use a impact gun

All you need to do is.. first loosen the belt tensioner bolt 1/2 turn then push the tensinor away from the belt to loosen it, then tighten the bolt to hold the tensioner and maintain the belt slack. Then hold the crank pulley stationary with a strap wrench while loosening the pulley-to-crankshaft bolt with a sprocket and breaker bar.

goodluck

You do not have to take the crank pulley off to do the timing.
Unless the plastic cover no longer has the timing mark.

I usually remove the starter and wedge a screw driver inbetween that hole for the starter, and a hole in the pressure plate. Then put a breaker bar on the bolt and lay under the car and kick it. It will come off fairly easily... This has never caused me any problems and never deformed the pressure plate or starter hole in my tranny.
