Removing Bondo
I have a 93 Civic DX. I am currently undoing allot of stuff that has been done to the car and the one thing that is really bugging me is the previous owner shaved the antenna with bondo but never painted the area. You can see the mounting holes and where the antenna actually goes thru due to the bondo cracking. I have done searches thru here and also googled the topic and haven't found anything . I was curious if any of you guy have had to do something close to this. I just want to be able to have an antenna again and listen to my radio. Please help. Thanks in advanced.

Re: Removing Bondo
just take a grider as he stated and remove the bondo and then you need to weld the holes up unless your planning on putting the antannea back in...

Re: Removing Bondo
i plan on putting the antenna back in. The bondo is in the holes. The rest was sanded off the body. You guys think i could just take a hammer and small chisel to the main hole and a small drill bit to the holes for the mounting screw and rethread them?

Re: Removing Bondo
just take a screwdriver and pop the bondo out...
then take the screwdriver and dig out as much of the mud as possible then run the screws into the holes...it will clean the threads for you...then reinstall the antannea..

Re: Removing Bondo
well be careful not to dig all the paint off...depending how it was done you may be able to remove it and clean up the paint and once the antannea is reinstalled it may cover it all up..

Re: Removing Bondo
Scotch Brite wheels on a grinder work great. They'll remove the Bondo really fast and will barely touch the metal.
Be really careful if you're going to hit/pry/whatever with a screwdriver or any type of tool. You're likely to deform the sheet metal, so I wouldn't recommend that at all....
