Default race gas..

i was wondering if race gas is any help to an import... i.e civ, integra, dsm cars?i used it in my mustang and i could really tell the difference, but ive heard that in imports you car burn the valves really easy.. has anyone used it and if so what were the results of it?

Lets put it this way, an engine will make thew most power on the lowest octane you can run without detonation. So with that in mind race gas (leaded or high octane) will not help a stock Type-R.

The only reason for higher octane is to deter detonation and run higher compression, more boost, alot of N2O...

But many have used leaded and high octane race gas in imports. The only problem is the leaded race gas hurts the life of you 02 sensor..

what he said, but you should also run race gas if youre doing a lot of timing advancing.

Leaded race gas will actually hurt performance unless you're tuned for it because of the way it burns. A lot of wrx people run mixes of c16 and 100 unleaded so the dmg to the sensors is far less. That being said... with proper tuning... I've seen 60-70 whp gained out of running it in ~300whp wrx's.

For example, jinxproof... who a lot of you honda people are familiar with just dyno'd his wrx at 320whp on 93 and 380whp on c16.

Were both his dyno runs at the same boost level? Or did he turn up the boost while on the C16.

get hondata and dont run an o2 sesnor if you really wnant yo use race gas, but it would seriously be pointless to run race gas in a stock type r.........

I'm guessing he turned the boost up..

Either that or the car is pulling timing cause detonation is detected.. but add the c16 and get rid of some of the detonation and now the timing is running a bit higher now gaining more power.
