Default Pulling The Valve Cover Off To Paint

I have a 99 SI, and im pulling the valve cover, going to sandblast it and paint it electronic blue pearl, never done this before so do i need to replace the gasket if i take it off?

haha yes,and why would you paint the cylinder head? Or are you talking about the valve cover?

haha yeah i meant valve cover..don't know what the hell i was talking about.

I do have to replace the gasket if i take it off?

Depends,some are good,some are bad. When you pull it off feel it its still kinda soft/rubbery. If its stiff and not flexible replace it.

It's cheap, replace it if you want it to seal properly. Do you mean electric blue pearl?

It's definitely worth it to replace it if you're taking the cover off anyway.

Gaskets are cheap, I think mine was like 10 max. Consult the factory manual for re-installation. Most commonly people do not realize that specific motors (aka my miata motor) recommend a small dab of sealant on specific areas.

If you are located in the NOVA area.. I HIGHLY recommend RMS Custom Powdercoating as he does really nice pearl powdercoats.
