Default prelude problems

its a 92 prelude (JESUS I HATE HONDAS)....ok so im driving down 264 going about 60 with cruise control on and the d4 light starts to blink and the speedo dropped, but comes back in shortly.Next thing i know the car acts like it just lost all its power and when i smashed the gas down it made a "burbleburbleburble" noise but nothin when i pressed the gas half way (a/t btw) it did nothing. So i pull off to the side and try to start the car back up but nothing....also now when i hit the brake ,the car wont shift into any gears at all. Only way it goes into gear is if i use the shift lock key...what does this sound like to you honda guru's out there?Im thinking its the timing belt because im not sure when the last time it was changed and the guy i bought the car from said it had been sitting for a year but if it was just the timing belt the car would still o into gear with the brake engaged. If the tranny died on me would that kill the car from moving completely? because it wont even start now it just cranks and cranks like its not getting gas...Also when the car gets to about 1/4 tank of gas thats when the car is empty and will shut off but i just put 20 bucks in it yesterday so i know it has gas, PLEASE HELP

if its not wanting to go into gear with the brake engaged...it could be a neutral safety switch that has gone bad?

Can't be the neutral safety switch cuz if its open then it wont send any current to the starter to even try and start it
