Default Possible Vitaras for B-series!!!

So there was a little thread on honda-tech about these pistons as a possible choice for low budget boost builds, just like the d-series guys have with the vitaras. i'm thinking of trying them out in my car, the ringlands are thicker than stock honda pistons, and in most cases with boost on stock internals the 1st thing to go is usually ringlands. Only problem I see is they are cast pistons so not much room for error in tuning etc. but they put the cp ratio down pretty good so detenation shouldn't be a big worry. I talked to one guy using them and he is making 460whp on these pistons, so I don't see why 300-400whp would be a problem. BTW the ebay store that sells these has a distributor that can modify the pistons to fit on forged rods. I think the distributor is FJ which if i'm not mistaken is the same company that deals with Vitaras too.

Reason for thread? trial and error. Buy em, use em, and report back. But i actually bought pistons of this brand and rebuilt a b16 and sold the motor. Never heard back from buyer so i am guessing he had no issues.

I was posting this up to see if anyone has actually used them on a boost build making some power. I have some in my motor now, but they are high compression CTR's. I know Nippon makes good products for the N/A crowd so I don't see why these won't work.

Nippon pistons are not "new" they are used in several honda motor builds.

yeah i'm aware of that, not really saying they are "new" just recently had some people using these on boost setups making well over 400whp.

What's magical about using cheap, poorly manufactured pistons? Anyone can do it as long as someone makes cheap, poorly manufactured pistons for your particular engine.

I really like the "Don't be fooled by cheap imitations!" Someone is making imitations of $139 piston sets? Really?

People have been making 400+ on these for years, not recently. I know of one setup that made 500+ and ran the entire season and was still going strong. They took the engine apart to build another vitara setup. Not bad for cheap pistons.

Btw if these were manufactured by YCP then IMO they are at least worth a shot, I wouldn't touch Nippon though.
