Default Oil catch can

How vital or important would it be to install an oil catch can on my turbo d series. Ive heard here and there that they are quite a good addition to a set up.

Its mainly used to keep the intake manifold cleaner by not recirculating oil vapor into it. Just don't have a little filter on your head where this vapor escapes since they like to clog and create excessive pressure in your crank case and blow out seals.

When it comes to Honda motors though I don't have experience with boosting them so I don't know how bad blow-by gets with them.

Blow by is really bad on turbo'd Hondas. Factory Hondas have a problem with the PCV system in the higher RPMs.

Alot of people don't worry about it. My stock motor has lasted 7 months of being boosted, on a FMU to say the least.

It can't hurt to be honest.

i always thought it was the same as a breather filter it just caught all the blow by in a can.

anyone have a diagram on how to hook one up? does it just go off the vaccum from the pcv valve, then back to the intake manifold?

If you're running a turbo it has to go from PCV to can to intake before the turbo, if you plumb it back after the turbo you'll pressurise the crank case and blow seals out.

most people run open atmosphere setups sometimes with drainback and often they will drill extra breather ports on the valvecover for higher power setups. I dont think you can use the drain back feature on a d series though unless you modify the block. I personally run a hose from my valvecover to the ground and vent the black box on the back of the block open as well.

Heres some good examples of how to setup a pretty nice crankcase pressure evacuation setup.
