So I'm assuming that it worked fine before you installed the new clutch and clutch cable? Sounds like a clutch cable adjustment problem or throwout fork problem; the clutch probably isn't properly releasing.

The release fork (sometimes called a throwout fork) is what transfers the cable motion to the throwout bearing (which then presses the pressure plate). So if that is somehow mounted wrong or isn't properly interfaced with the pressure plate, the pressure plate won't release clutch clamping pressure properly. Because it's entirely external to the transmission, if the fork is broken you won't have to replace anything but the fork. It's just as likely that something isn't assembled properly though, so you may have to get back in there and check everything out.

Things that could be wrong with the release fork:
Release fork that isn't properly assembled to the throwout bearing
Release fork bolt (holds fork to pivot shaft) missing so the pivot shaft is turning but not moving the release fork
Clutch cable not attached to top of clutch pedal
Release arm not properly attached to release fork pivot shaft (I can't remember how they assemble, it's been a while)

Here's how to properly adjust the external bits:

http://www.honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=2309299

If everything external is connected properly (clutch cable is properly attached to the clutch pedal, etc) and adjusted properly, and it still doesn't work, you'll have open everything back up and dig into the clutch parts again.

Cable-type clutch release mechanisms are really crude usually, so this is probably going to be something really simple.

Oh, some of those things may be slightly different because it's a Nissan. But the concepts are the same.

does it go into gear with the car off?....if so it sounds like ur TOB was installed wrong or is defective.....are u 100% sure u put all the bolts the pressure plate and the u tightend them in a cris-cross pattern?

That doesn't sound like a clutch problem as much as a mechanical problem with the synchros or something else. I'm going to guess that it's a synchro problem because things start to expand when warm and the fluid viscosity also changes with temperature. The synchros in some transmission families are notoriously sensitive to the type of fluid used, often to the point that they won't properly shift with certain brands or types if the synchros are worn at all.

If you had a clutch engagement problem (like you originally suspected) you would have the same problem whether the engine was warm or cold. Also, you'd only be able to rev the engine in neutral, because the clutch wouldn't be properly disengaging. In my opinion what you've just said contradicts a clutch problem.

Just for giggles, make sure that your shift linkage bolts are tight and that you don't have a broken engine mount or something like that. Those things can make the shift linkage unable to shift properly.
