So i spun the #3 bearing in my integra. I pulled the motor apart and the journals dont look bad at all. Theres no groove marks or anything, cant even really tell i spun a bearing. I got real lucky. Now the question is..

can i put some new bearings and rings in and put the motor back together and be on my way?
Or should get everything reconditioned and honed ect.?
OR just get a new motor?

Im trying to save as much money as possible, so i can just to get on the road until i can afford to get and rebuild a new motor.

The cylinder wall appears to be fine, and the rod itself didn't look to scared. The crank however is pretty worn. I wouldn't trust putting new bearings in it and sending it on its way.

take it to Barnett's machine shop(located in Norfolk) and have Willie check the crank for you, if he tells you it is fine to use, then use it, he will even tell you if you need standard bearings or oversized

I actually have another crank in my trunk. it just needs to get reMic'd because one of the rod journals has a blemish.
thank you. ill either pull that crank or take the one i already have.
But the walls are ok? no hone or bore??

The walls look fine to me, although I can't tell if the marks on the walls are deep or not? Can you feel anything or does it all feel smooth? It never hurts to use a ball hone, they sell them at most auto part stores. If there's any doubt in your mind then its worth the investment to replace the parts, or have the part machined. Otherwise you risk putting it back together only to have to tear it down again.

you can kinda feel the scratches, not too bad tho. will a ball hone take care of that? also, will it change anything as far as ring gapping?

A ball hone wont, don't get to aggresive with it though. your obviously taking material away but its only in the thousandths. Use a ball hone and you should be fine

Were the other bearings worn down to the thickness of a piece of paper, or was is just that one? The real question is why does the bearing look like that and what caused it?

ok, is it common sence to do or what? dont wanna make things worse. You think ill need a line hone? i havent pulled the crank yet.

the rest looked fine. pretty meaty actually. im guessing its something with lack of oil. becuase my oil pressure light came on right before it spun.
