Need help on honda civic
 

ok, I have a 4 door sedan honda civic EX.
Im desperate to know if its a vtec or not, it does not say vtec on my engine but I've been told it doesn't have to. Also when I go to advance auto parts I see my car pops up sayin SOHC vtec, and says I have a d16y8. So is it a vtec how do I know?
My brothers says vtec on his engine. Idk

And when I do a carfax report the engine says: 1.6l sohc vtec

Look for a VTEC solenoid.

Bounce off the rev limiter and see if you go into hyper speed

lebaneezy what you mean bounce off? all i notice is when i hit about 5500-6500 rpms it gets louder, and whats the vtec solenoid look like

d16y8 is a sohc vtec block, we have no clue if some fool put a non vtec head on it or not or if vtec is operating. How about some pictures? Why are you so desperate to know if it is vtec? So you can tell your friends its vtec? To participate in some street race fuckery thats gonna get you arrested, the car wrecked or impounded, and you in a hospital? I will be more than happy to take it around langley for you to see if it works, cost ya $15.

Come on man, do a little research yourself. Google image search for "VTEC solenoid"...
