I have a B18b1 head on a B18a1 block and i just swapped it in and the motor runs fine but at around 5000 rpm it doesnt really go any higher while driving. When in neutral the motor will rev as high as you want. Once its in gear going down the road you cant get anymore than like 5000. I have no clue what is going on it just feels like it is "taching" out at 5 grand. I had a b1 block in before and it didnt do this. i put the a1 block in and now its doing it. Any suggestions??

I believe the timing is off after talking to several people, i will try and let ya know

Its a p28 in a 93 del sol si. Reset the timing and still doesnt perform right

hmmm...p28 is a sohc vtec ecu.
b18b & b18a are dohc non-vtec motors.

why are you using this ecu? is it modified for use with this motor?

no its not modified for the motor but it ran fine before i put this block in

Get a ls ecu, when I got my ls swapped into my car I ran a 99 Civic EX (d16y8) ecu for about 9 months and it wouldn't rev past 5000. Finally bought a conversion harness and ECU and ran like a dream.
