Re: need help
like he said, check the fans. If they are fine, check to see if there is actually coolant flowing through the system. If not, the system is probably clogged.
Actually, check your water pump, too.

Re: need help
there are weep holes on the side of the water pump it self it should piss it out of the holes....look on the ground on the drivers side of the engine....try to jump your fan by running + and - to the battery if the fan doesnt come on its the fan

Re: need help
theres no visual way you can tell unless its leaking thru the weep hole or cracked..mostly it just a regular service thing that is done when the timing belt is done so that you know you have a fresh pump..but if it was a bad pump it would stay hot, it wouldnt fluctuate another way you can tell if the pump went bad. once the engine get up to temp the thermostat will open to cool the enging down, during that time grab the upper rad. hose and feel for pressure the hose should be stiff and common sence it will be hot
another the system might have air pockets in it, try topping it off with fluids and while being done grab the upper rad. hose once again and shake it and squeeze it to push some of the air out..and this would be done with the car running but keep a eye on the temp guage sometimes it will over heat
another the guage cluster could be faulty the diodes mabe warn
i hope this help good luck

Re: need help
It could be air in the system also, but generally that's something that will stay static and not move around very much. Air (steam) can get much hotter than coolant can, and can also cause fluctuations in coolant system pressure. I'm not really convinced that is the problem though.
