Is the maintenance required light pretty much just set to come on every so many thousands of miles so that it will scare you into thinking there's something wrong and taking your car to dealer so they can make money?

the maint req light is set to come on at a certain amount of miles...its more of an oil change light than anything else...its more for the people who dont take care of thier car and need something bright to scream at them and let them know they just might need something done....

i just did a butt ton of maintenance and it just came on yesterday

theres a little black box with a blue square button on it under the dash near the peddle area, turn the ign on and hold the blue button down until the light goes off.

different models have a different reset procedure. most of the civics and older accords had a green flag that would drop out to red and is reset by using the ignition key to push in the reset button on the left side of the flag.

most of the Acuras use the second reset button in the cluster, there should be two on most of them. some would be you press the button, then turn the key on and it would reset.

there are a few other ways that some have to be done, post up the cars info and i will be happy to get the info up tomorrow when i get to work

Yep, thats how I did mine. I was looking for it the other day though and couldn't find it. Guess I was feeling in the wrong spot. Found it when I needed it, but not when I was just looking for it for no reason.
