LS/VTEC ?
i am about to leave to go on deployment. When i get back i am planning on playing with my da. i wanted to go ls/vtec with rods and pistons and maybe some spray. now i wont be installing this. a shop will. they said to do the work to the motor itll be about 3000. but i know for them to turbo the car its 3500 with the parts. what would be the best way to go? i know each have their pros and cons

Re: LS/VTEC ?
the best way to go is to not take it to a shop. your gonna put 3000 dollars into a very mildly built lsvtec and get nothing out of it. its not hard to do an lsvtec conversion at all. go get a b16 head (which imo is the ideal head), get whatever rods piston you want (depending on what kinda compression you want), and get an ls vtec conversion kit from golden eagle, get a type r water pump and oil pump (oil pump not a must but recommended) and a gsr timing belt, and a vtec ecu, then get someone to install, like me! its gonna be pricey but no 3000 dollars. and of course you could throw a 1000 dollar turbo kit and tune the shit outta it and get a lot bigger numbers.........

pro from turbo-shit's quick
pro from lsvtec-you got vtec....and....uh.....vtec....
con from turbo- none if you do it right with the right tune
con from lsvtec-spending a lot of money with no big gains

Re: LS/VTEC ?
and even with just going with pistons and rods you dont need to take it to a shop, they are gonna charge you an arm and a leg. direct piston and rod swap (and bearings) isnt that tough either, and putting on a turbo kit is cake
