Default loss of oil?

i've been losing a LOT of oil in my car. whenever i get up to around 3500 rpm i notice smoke coming out of my exhaust. i can check my oil maybe every two days and i'll barely have any at all. i know it could be my rings but i dont want to go through the trouble of replacing them if its not it. is there anything besides a cylinder leak test to find out exactly whats wrong?

compression test is going to tell you something you already know.

1. Rings are dead - not as hard to replace those as it seems.
2. Valve guides - pull the head and have it looked at by a head specialist or machine shop.
3. Cracked or broken piston - same as replacing the rings.

at the rate you're losing oil check for leaks. if you're going through that much oil you've got a much more serious problem.

degrease your motor. (engine degreaser) get it all squeaky clean and set a piece of cardboard under the motor and start 'er up and let 'er run. look EVERYWHERE for oil spots while the car is running.

i know theres no oil leaks now, i've gotten all of them. the rings might be the problem because the motor overheated with very very very low miles on it.

If it over heated the head gasket and head could be fucked. Good luck with the rebuild.

Ok, if you THINK you have a problem, but don't want it to be the problem, that doesn't make it NOT the problem.

Get my drift?

In other words, you have been offered advice, and you turn it down. So blow up your motor, or get the damn thing tore down and inspected, whether you want it to be the rings/pistons or not. You obviously have NOT gotten all the leaks, or you wouldn't be losing oil.

slow down turbo, im talking about like gasket leaks for oil to flow on the actual outside of the motor onto the ground. oh i know the oil leaks thats a fact its just an internal thing and thats what im trying to figure out.
