Looking for Flat Mufflers
Hey guys,
I am having a bit of trouble finding really flat mufflers for my AE86 hatch.
I am gonna customize the exhaust with 2.25 inch pipes and I am having trouble finding a muffler that is flat with 2.25 inch inlet and outlet. I do not care how wide it is, but it needs to be as small as possible in height.
I have been on Jegs and JC Whitney, and because I have dialup (FTMFL) I just cant get through searching fast enough. What I have seen so far do not show actual dimensions.
I'm almost to the point that I will have to drive to local stores and ask for what they got, but I am not able to find the time to do so yet.
Has anyone seen any good flat mufflers around and are there any recommendations of certain brands or anything? I'm looking for the least restrictive and not TOO loud to cause cop concerns.
This is my first exhaust project so I dont really know much about whats out there.
Thanks!

Re: Looking for Flat Mufflers
Put a race bullet in it... Not much larger than the diameter of inlet/outlet.
Edit: Something like this.

Wow that is really cool... and fast responding! Thanks!
I like their return policy, haha.
I'd like to see other options while I have time to try for more research.
I have to make sure its great for my DD and that it can pass inspection with no problems.
The less ricer sounding, the better.

What about headers? I was thinking of OBX since it seems popular and I guess they are good. TRD was my other option but I think they are wayy overpriced.
What's a good header? 4-1 or 4-2-1?

4-2-1 is something that a lot of elantra owners are running. i dont know the actually physics behind it, but my thought process is that 2 paths to flow down into one is better, similar to a dual exhaust... but then again, i dont know much about the science behind header performance
