Default a little help needed for my ef

i bought my hatch about 3 or 4 weeks ago, the shifter has a lot of play. Meaning when i am in any gear it moves as if it were in nuetral. Does anyone have any idea as to whats wrong and how i can fix it, the 4spd was swapped out to a 5spd. please no stupid comments just trying to figure out whats wrong so i can fix it, i hate driving it like this

haha yboost you owe someone 100$ becuase i just got under the car today, come to find out the bushings are still good, its the pin for the linkage itself that goes to the tranny it has serious play, anyone know how i can replace this

It could be your bushings or most likely the brakets on the ends are bent from someone being too rough with it.

If it was loose enough to cause the shifter to have play wouldn't it fall out?

yes. but I've seen people use bolts, nails, the wierdest material because they didnt have a bitch pin. if its loose at all, the shifter will have a lot of play in it.
