knocking when turing (s13)
i hit a really bad pot hole in my s13 a few days ago. yesterday it started making this weird noise from the wheel that hit it.
when i go to turn right it gets louder, when i turn the other direction it goes away.
i have tokico shocks and skunk2 springs.
what it the problem? tie rod? control arms?

everyone can guess but it will be nore more then a guess without looking at it.
jack the car up and inspect everything , check for wheel bearing and tie rod plany.

Re: knocking when turing (s13)
ok found out that its the brake pad rubbing on the rotor, there is a place on the rotor that is lower and it making the noise, would brake cleaner help at all ?

Would a cleaning agent make space between a solid pad and a rotor?
Uhhh....
How about taking off the whole hub, calipers, rods, etc. (probable not all necessary if you can spot most of the damage w/just the tire off) and inspecting them all for damage.
Sounds like you're gonna be replacing something.
Is it on the left side? (turning right should put more weight on the left, so just my poor physics guesswork)

Re: knocking when turing (s13)
What kind of gap are you talking about? there shouldnt be any gaps on the rotor where the pad can make contact with. also, is it a rubbing or a squeeling sound? cuz squeeling would be your cue to check the brake pads cuz they are getting low. If the pad has developed a lip over the friction surface of the rotor and are rubbing the hub part of the rotor just take the pads off and grind them down with any type of sander or die grinder (pads on my 240 are nowhere near, but never know). shouldnt be too hard to figure out. have fun

Re: knocking when turing (s13)
hah thanks, but my rotor looks like the pad pressed in to the rotor and now every time the rotor moves over it it make the "shick" sound hah

taylor, if the rotor is visibly damaged that is the first thing i would replace..along with pads
while its off check to see if theres any other problems you can spot just by inspecting it...
damaged parts
wheel bearing play
also check the caliper
other than that, leave it to a pro : )
one shop comes to mind...
