knocking sound in motor
i have a knocking sound im not sure whether its coming from the block or the tranny and it doesnt do it all the time...i just recently replaced the tranny and didnt have any sounds before... my halfshaft axle was leaking so my fluid could possibly be low i havent checked it yet...but i have checked my oil and there is nothing as far as metal on the dipstick...any help is appreciated (by the way its a built bottom end)

it is hard to describe i drove down the street stopped at a stop sign started knocking for about 30 seconds then it stopped drove back home which is a whole minute op the street parked and it did it again then it stopped i let the car idle for 15 minutes and ut wouldnt do it again

i dont know its got me confused after the knock stops i let the car idle to see if i does it again and it wont....seems like it only does after i drive then come to stop and i hear it then it stops

That would be more like a grinding sound... And the pilot bearing wouldn't be "engaged" unless your switching gears.
Does the knocking seem to coincide with the idle of the motor? Is it auto or manual? Does it do it in different gears?
Try sitting in neutral and revving it slowly up and down the rpm line, see if you can get the noise to come back.

well acctually the pilot bearing is always "engaged" , the pilot bearing is the one in the flywheel. you are thinking of the throw out bearing.

yup, id suggest throw out bearing. just step on the clutch, see if it goes away. if it does, than most likely its a throw out bearing.
