Knock sensor
ok so i swapped out the longblocks on my 88 stock hatch with one from an 95 civic cx. i mantained the stock dual point for gas economy & the 95 longblock doesnt have what i was told was a knock sensor would that affect the way the car runs. any suggestions
here r pics please correct me if im wrong. & the sensor im reffering to is circled in blue
the new longblock i installed simply has a plug where this sensor is located at

The sensor circled in the picture is the cooling fan switch. It tells the computer when the engine reaches a set degree which in turn turns on the cooling fan to cool down the engine. What you need to do is just hook up the cooling fan switch on the new block, which is on the thermostat housing. So if you have the factory wiring harness you heed to cut the two terminals off and rewire it up with a 92-95 cooling fan swith plug!

is this the cooling fan switch circled in blue.?? & if i simply use the connector off the 92-95 harness & i splice in to the stock harness will that work

you are correct. to test it afterword, simply jump the two terminals over with a paper clip or something with the key on. When jumped over the fan should come on.

yes that is a cooling fan switch & that sensor on the 88 is a cooling fan switch too not a knock sensor. yes you can use the connector off the 92-95 harness & splice in to the stock harness.
