Ignition Timing Question

If the distributor is maxed out in adjustment all the way and you still cannot get the timing mark on the crank pulley to line up with the TDC mark on the timing case, what could be causing this issue?

I have a 94 civic that just got a new replacement used motor went from a D15B7 to a D15B8 and I cannot get ignition timing within spec. I have checked cam timing and it is right on. I even tried another distributor just to see if it was a distributor issue, but still the same problem.

Any help on this subject would be much appreciated.

Re: Ignition Timing Question

Your timing will not be at TDC. Will actually be at 16 degrees advanced, which is stock timing. You will see the single dash on the crank pully. That is TDC, then you should also see 3 dashes. You set your timing to the center dash for stock timing. IF that is what you are talking about, then you need to set the crank to TDC, pull off your timing belt. Set cam to TDC and put the timing belt back on. Then adjust the distibutor to get it right on.
