I need help from Turbo Toyota peeps
Hey I just helped my friend turbo his 87 celica gt-s. It boosts pretty good right now with a t3/t4 at 6 psi. Got a couple of technical difficulties though. The car won't idle right and cuts off unless you keep the rpms up above 2000. Also anyone have good suggestions for fuel management at low cost (ie/turbo celica ecu and injectors) something along those lines. Thanks for any help!

what injectors do you have in there? what cams? exactly what are you experiencing fuel/air-wise? did you just throw a turbo on the stock engine?

Yeah, stock everything except the turbo kit of course. Just wondering what to do about fuel management for cheap. We figured out the idle problem last night ... just a MAF thing.

it doesn't have an MAF. you need to go with megasquirt or something along those lines. or, you can start by getting the 440 injectors.

Re: I need help from Turbo Toyota peeps
when i boosted my 5sfe in my celica i went with 650cc injectors and used a s-afc to cut the fuel back to the stoich level i had a t3 kit on mine also. it did fine but i got to a point where i was like well i wanna crank up the boost and then it just got out of hand i finally sold the kit and am going with a 3sgte swap instead figuring only 6lbs of boost was not worth it to me which is all you can safely run on a stock 5sfe reliably, whereas on a 3sget you can crank it up to at least 12 and be fine for everyday driving the price it cost me to put the kit together versus the price it would cost me to do the 3sgte swap IMO the 3sgte wins hands down if you plan on doing this swap go to osaka motors they have a second gen complete swap for 950.00. very worth it IMO.

you're saying the 5S was a better boosting engine? that's just madness. it's nowhere near being a better profile for performance versus the 3S.
guess the thing is, he already turbocharged a 3SG-E.

no not saying the 5s was a better boosting engine just saying that it held up good under the circumstances....(only 5-6psi) not throw your head back in the seat power but was a little more peppy than it was before. but for the money i spent into the turbo kit i coulda just swapped the 3sget into the car as i am doing now....looking for some huge gains in horsepower with this beast. i would go 3sgte all the way bro....
